Brunori Description

The Marche is home to Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, a region that has enjoyed a renaissance over the past twenty years, as more and more small growers have been striking out on their own, trying to make a name for Verdicchio. The Brunori estate, founded by Mario Brunori, was one of the first to stop selling grapes and barrels of wine to the local cooperative in 1956, when they started bottling their wines under their own label. The Brunori estate consists of nine hectares (just over 22 acres) of immaculately-tended vines of Verdicchio, rooted in limestone-rich soils. The Brunoris have always farmed without the use of chemicals, and they conduct a manual harvest and never use wood to vinify their wines. The result is a highly-aromatic and complex white wine with wonderful balance. They are now in their third generation of making some of the most vibrant and interesting white wines in Italy.

The Brunori Le Gemme, made from 100% Verdicchio, pours a pale golden with a verdant tinge. The nose starts with enticing aromas of citrus fruits, developing into notes of sea air and white-fleshed fruits balanced with a subtle white flower nuance. This Verdicchio floods the palate with a burst of lemon blended with a wonderful salinity on the attack. The mid-palate is vibrant yet smooth with added notes of green almond, fresh-cut pear and just ripe white peach, which transition into a crisp, dry mineral finish. This wine will be delicious with any seafood, roasted bird, or delicate meat dishes.
