Hip, hip, rose! 6 Places to drink pink this summer

Written by Danielle Davies, The Press of Atlantic City

Forget everything you think you know about pink wine. We’re not talking about far-too-sweet white zinfandels or even more cringe-inducing strawberry wine. We’re talking a whole other class of refreshing, delicate pink wine —roses! Roses have made a big comeback and are perfect for summer. We’re already sold, but if you want to hop on the trendy train with us, here are six roses you have to try this summer.

1. Locations F. Everything is fabulous at Steve & Cookie’s in Margate, and the wine list is further proof. With multiple roses available by the bottle, including Locations F — perfect for warm summer evenings — there’s a rose for every palate. Located at 9700 Amherst Ave. in Margate. Go to SteveandCookies.com for more information.

2. Hecht and Bannier Cotes de Provence. Perfect for garden parties or outside deck lounging, this French wine can be purchased by the glass or bottle at The Iron Room in Atlantic City. Wednesdays are half-price wine days … who says you need a weekend for a wine tasting? Located at 648 N. Albany Ave. in Atlantic City. Go to ABCBottleCompany.com.

3. Rose Ferme de Gicon. With a wine list a mile long (OK, a stretch, but you get the point), it’s no surprise that the Wine Bar at the Washington Inn offers Rose Ferme de Gicon by the glass. With notes of raspberry, plum and wild strawberry, it’s top on our list to try next. Located at 801 Washington St. in Cape May. Go to WashingtonInn.com.

4. Whispering Angel. Looking for a rose that’s a little bit like heaven? Head to Cielo Wine Bar at Capriccio in Resorts for this well-known gem that’s become, perhaps, the most popular of roses. Located at 1133 Boardwalk in Atlantic City. Go to ResortsAC.com for more.

5. Sperino Rosa del Rosa. While Passion Vines in Somers Point is a wine and spirit company, they do sell wines by the glass in addition to their frequent tastings and events. Right now, their featured rose is Sperino Rosa del Rosa, a 2015 vintage Italian wine. Try that, or purchase a bottle of Big Flavor Rose, a jammy, fruity, but still dry rose from South Africa. Located at 265 New Road in Somers Point. Go to PassionVines.com.

6. Rose with Geoffrey Zakarian. Still can’t decide on a perfect rose? Lucky for you, Geoffrey Zakarian is hosting an intimate rose wine tasting, including small bites and, you guessed it, samples of rose. Join him 5 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Vintage in Borgata. Located at 1 Borgata Way in Atlantic City. Go to TheBorgata.com for more information.
